ClamAV is a free and open source antivirus solution, probably best suited towards advanced users.
The program has become popular among users of production software such as web and mail servers. ClamAV includes a number of powerful tools for servers such as multiple command line tools, on-demand scans and virus database updates. It can all be configured by editing the included configuration files.
Jun 21, 2021 ClamTk is a GUI front-end for ClamAV using gtk2-perl. It is designed to be an easy-to-use, on-demand scanner for Linux systems. ClamTk has been ported to Fedora, Debian, RedHat, openSUSE, ALT Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, Gentoo, Archlinux, Mandriva, PCLinuxOS, FreeBSD, and others. This release brings a number of updates to ClamAV scanning engine: Support for new file formats and archives: DMG, XAR, Xz Improvements in scanning of Microsoft OLE files Various other improv 11. As all scans by ClamAV are done via the command line tools, the application is both fast and uncomplicated. The trade-off is certainly the ease-of-use, which makes ClamAV geared more towards advanced users.
ClamAV is a great solution to detect and remove viruses from a system or server, offering a number of advanced features. It's available for a number of operating sytems, too.
